Customer Reviews: MEDIOCRE LUCY FARE. August 30, 20022 out of 3 found this review helpful Plenty of talent in a mediocre film. Victor Mature is an army private in line for a tidy inheritance if he marries beautiful socialite Terry (Lucille Ball). He has seven days leave in which to win her affections, and runs into the usual problems before finally succeeding. The premise is good, but too many rather disjointed scenes leave it out of whack. Charles Walters, the choreographer for this, his first film, would achieve greater heights during his years at MGM, where he became a top musical director. Mature joined the Coast Guard after completing this mixed bag; he remained in service for the rest of WWII. The lovely Big Band vocalist Ginny Simms (she sang for Kay Kyser) sings CAN'T GET OUT OF THIS MOOD while sparky, freckle-faced Marcy McGuire sings I GET THE NECK OF THE CHICKEN (!) | |||||||||||
